Home Leave 2015! Whitewater, WI - Chicago!
Staying in Whitewater put us just the right distance for road trips to Milwaukee, Madison, the Dells, and Chicago! The Pleva's planned a mini family reunion with Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and all the new kiddos, outside Chicago one afternoon.
Gramma Ruby's one wish for this visit with the granddaughters was to take them to the American Girl store in Chicago for brunch. All the girls, Piper, Kailey, Me, Jenny, and Gramma got all dressed up, with the appropriate dolls (or kitty), and headed down to Chi-Town!

I have never been to an American Girl store. Wow. It was something! Piper had already decided she wanted a pet instead of a girl (I may have had a little something to do with that decision - have you seen how much those dolls are???) and she found the doggie section right away.
We were seated for our brunch in a very large, elaborate room, complete with little high chairs, and tiny cups and saucers for the American girls that were joining us.
It was quite the meal! We all very much enjoyed it!
After begging the grandparents to buy more accessories for the new doggie pets we visited the Lego store. Paul had a good time in here!
Since we were in Chicago we had to walk down to Millenium Park to see the famous bean!
We even found a princess down there for Piper to take her picture with!
After our touring in the morning we had a great visit with all of Paul's extended family!

Home Leave 2015! Whitewater, WI - Summer Summer!
More american summer fun in Wisconsin!
It was so great for Piper to get to spend so much time with her cousins. She only gets to see them once a year and I'm so happy she loves being with them. She especially loves Kailey! (I think when Richie gets a bit older and is able to hold his own against the girls he'll also join the club)
From the moment they woke up in the morning, the two girls were attached to each other. Kailey would get Piper out of her pack and play by pulling her out, in Piper's words, "like a penguin!" If we went anywhere in the car, Kailey sat behind Piper (we rented a car with three rows) so they could see each other (Piper still sits backwards). They would sing songs together and tell each other stories. If one wanted to go swimming, they both wanted to go swimming. They played games together, colored together, read books together. When it was time for bed, Kailey helped get Piper ready and read her a story. They are the best buddies, I love it!

Worms are my least favorite invertebrates, I'll take spiders, beetles, other critters, any day over worms!

Yesterday Piper was singing "Bring back, bring back, bring back my Kailey and Richie to me, to me! Bring back, Bring back, bring back my Piper and Kailey and Richie to meeeee!" Super cute!!!

Home Leave 2015! Whitewater, WI - 4th of July!
We had a truly American Fourth of July in Whitewater, WI! We went to the parade downtown, spent the afternoon swimming in the lake, did sparklers, watched to the fireworks, and had a huge camp fire!
Piper and Kailey were so excited to be dressed in their 4th of July finest!

This was an awesome parade, not only did they throw candy, they gave out water bottles, bubbles, popsicles, and even t-shirts! Piper loved the candy throwing. Everytime she saw a tractor she said "look mama, the farmer in the dell!" So cute!
The girls also had a great time with the sparklers (or as Piper called them "farklers")
And of course we had to have a campfire with smores!
Once the kids were in bed, the boys decided it was time to put the citronella candle into the fire. It was quite impressive!
